Lee and Sylvia Streater opened up Sylvia's Cozy Corner on July 1, 1991. This is in the house that Sylvia was raised in. It has been her family's home since 1939. When they first opened, there were lots of homemade crafts available which they made. Lee Streater did the hard work and Sylvia did the fun stuff. When the country theme went out, they bought more nautical items. As you meander through the rooms you'll find funny signs and pillows, Coke collectibles, lots of collegiate stuff, throws, nautical items, angels and gifts for babies, children and grown-ups! The store is now featuring the Heartwood Creek collections of the artist Jim Shore. Great Santa's, angels, lighthouses, sailboats, animals, and Nativities are now available. The front porch welcomes you with patriotic and collegiate flags flying. Come in and say, "Hello." Lee Streater is a retired pipe fitter from Marathon Oil in Texas City. Sylvia retired from CCISD as a 3rd grade teacher. They have 2 daughters; Debbie and Shannon, a son-in-law Jeff Brabham and 3 grand children; Justin Pavlowich (20), Madison Brabham (9), and Abbie Brabham (6), and two black cats: Spooky and Miss Willy.
